Learning about types of Estimation Tasks

The Quantum::Estimation plugin supports four types of estimation tasks. Dependent on the task type they allow you to select a single user as an estimator, or a Jira group or project role. The user selector will suggest a list of users based on your recent user's history and users assigned to the Jira ticket as reporter, assignee, etc.

Each estimation task defines criteria that need to be fulfilled in order to successfully finalize the estimation. The number of required estimates (from estimators) will be shown in the batch symbol on top of the estimation task symbol:

Additionally, you will find the total missing estimates (over all estimation tasks) in the estimation summary panel:

Assigned Estimator

The Assigned Estimator task type allows you to select a single user that must give an estimate in order to fulfill the estimation criteria for the estimation.

One of a Group

The One of a Group task type allows you to select a Jira group or project role. At least one member of the group or the project role must give an estimate in order to fulfill the estimation criteria.

Minimum in Group

The Minimum in Group task type allows you to select a Jira group or project role. You will be able to specify the minimum number of group or project role members that must give an estimate in order to fulfill the estimation criteria. The minimum number of estimators can’t be higher than the total number of Members in Group.

Everyone in Group

The Everyone in Group task type allows you to select a Jira group or project role. All members of the group or the project role (at the time of the creation of the estimation task) must give an estimate in order to fulfill the estimation criteria. Will the group or project role be mutated after the creation of the estimation task, they will not count to the limit. Recreate the task to reflect changed membership.
